CLOWN describes something much deeper than funny gags and big shoes.

It addresses the human spirit and its liberation through the imagination, fantasy and atmosphere of "Play."

CLOWN is an expression of the core of the being, of the true state of innocent, naive, childish, pure and universal, cosmic, divine spirit. It resides in each of us.

At our core, we are universally ignorant of complex experience and therefore idiotic, stupid, naive, curious and driven.

CLOWN describes a primal, sensate, dynamic being.

The Clown Lab is a practical research studio.

Laboratory sessions are designed to explore specific aspects of play and performance. In addition to the ongoing research, sessions are dedicated to training in sensory awareness, physical embodiment, character discovery, and performance techniques.

Exercises are created to develop reflexes and identify impulses.

The natural play instinct which is present in every student is the background against which personality is explored and developed.

Introduction to fundamental skills such as primary corporeal mechanics, associated movement, spatial awareness, direction, resistance, concentration and atmosphere help to develop self expression and confidence in performance.
