INTRODUCTION to MIME with Robert Leeds
"the first person to receive a diploma from Ecole Internationale de Mimodrame de Paris Marcel Marceau."
Master Mime, Robert Leeds, gives a clear and concise introduction to the fundamentals of the
techniques and philosophy of the Marceau school. Instruction, demonstration and practical,
"do-able" exercises.
"We do not suggest space before the spectator. We create the space, together."

The MONOLOGUE Why am I still talking?
The same techniques which inform the emergence of truthful physical character govern truthful
emergence of language in performance. Learn the difference between "saying" and "speaking."
Language is not simply a tool for communication but an expression of subconscious and
subjective truth. The playwright provides language and circumstance. The actor must supply the
soul and the life. Get to the core of your own truth through the character's speech.

Quality of Movement
"the Object & the Word"
Intention, Object, Language in Non-Verbal Performance
When I introduce any object I call it by Name.
Whether sounded through speech, illustrated
through movement, or suggested through form,
this succeeds only if the Name is understood.
Quality of movement defines character through
structure, rhythm, weight, direction and attitude.
In this workshop we will explore quality of movement
and discuss how this forms the language base
for character and story in non-verbal performance.
